Neural interface engineering (NIE) is one of the fastest-growing areas of biomedical engineering that combines neuroscience, computer science, applied mathematics, material science, and psychology to understand, model, mimic, repair, replace, or enhance the function of the nervous systems. This technology takes an interdisciplinary approach to solve various medical issues, restore sensory and motor function, and treat a wide range of neurological disorders. In this special issue, we aim to explore deeper insights into NIE and its promising applications in the future. Topics include, but are not limited to, the following:
(1) Bioelectronics, neural interface devices;
(2) Brain signal processing;
(3) Neuromodulation and neuroprosthetics;
(4) Brain decoding and encoding, neuroscience;
(5) Biomimetic nervous system.
Overview of WYSS
The World Young Scientist Summit (WYSS) is jointly sponsored by the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) and the People’s Government of Zhejiang Province. Themed by “Converging the World’s Talents, Creating a Better Future,” it has been held for five consecutive sessions. In 2019, President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory letter to the first Summit, pointing out that “the future of science and technology is dependent on the young.” In 2020, the UN Secretary General Guterres sent a letter to the young scientists attending the WYSS.
The WYSS has established exchanges and contacts with over 100 countries, international science and technology organizations, and over 200 foreign universities. It has invited over 30 Nobel Prize-level laureates and other world’s top scientists from around the world, nearly 400 Chinese and foreign academicians, and over 5600 representatives of young scientists, entrepreneurs and venture capitalists to attend the conference.
The WYSS 2024 will be held in Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province, from November 15 to 17, 2024. Under the theme “Converging the World’s Talents, Creating a Better Future,” this year’s summit will focus on the annual topic of “Youth Innovation: Fostering New Quality Productive Forces.” The main events will feature Plenary Sessions, Parallel Sessions and Featured Sessions, and Exhibitions (WYSS Expo).
